Umesh Yadav comes in full support for Mohammed Shami
After a series of debate and discussions, Indian pacer Mohammed Shami finds himself in a spot of bother at the moment. However, he has now received the backing of Umesh Yadav, his fellow pace bowler. Shami has been in the news for all the wrong reasons in the recent times. In an unlikely turn of events, he was labelled and condemned as ‘UnIslamic’.
The entire controversy started with the Indian quick posting a picture with his wife on the social media. Many people posted hate comments on the picture on social media platform Facebook. The key concern of the group of people abusing Shami was the way his wife was dressed up. Shami had then given them a fitting reply when he tweeted that he knows what is good for his wife and what is not.
While the Islamic clerics condemned him, he continued to get support from all corners. Now, Umesh has clearly stated that Shami gave a fitting reply to the haters. In a conversation with Times of India, Umesh Yadav mentioned that the people have made it a habit to target the cricketers and their partners.
He quoted, “It seems to be a fad these days to attack the cricketers, their partners or film stars. To hit out at women is the most cowardly thing to do. Nobody has the right to tell you what to wear or not to wear. Shami has no problem with his wife wearing a gown, who gave a right to all these guys to comment? These trolls don’t have any work. In fact, they are the most frustrated people; they need to get a life. And Shami has given them a befitting reply on social media.”
He was then asked what would his reaction be if his wife Tanya faces such criticism some day. The Indian quickie was quick to say that he will do the same that Shami did. He said that his wife has every right to live the way she wants to live.

“My reaction would also be like that of Shami. Tanya is my life partner, she has every right to do what she likes. I would challenge anybody who objects to her right to be herself and ask him to come and make all those comments to my face. Bhai saamne aake baat kar na,” he quoted.
In the conversation, Yadav also heaped praise on Indian skipper Virat Kohli. He said that Kohli has imbibed a spirit of brotherhood in the team. This is reflecting back in the performances of the team.
“Ever since Virat has become the Test captain, he has motivated everyone to stand for others —both on and off the pitch. He told us if we take pride in others’ achievements and repose faith in our mates, we will do even better. This mantra is translating into all this positivity and bonding that everyone is talking about. We are all playing as a team and achieving for one another,” he conceded.
