The Indian speedster Umesh Yadav made a surprise comeback to the T20 International side for the two-match series against Australia. The selectors seemed to have made up their mind about him as a backup seamer for the upcoming World Cup. Though one would’ve thought of Umesh getting picked in the ODIs and his selection in the shortest format has left many perplexed.
Umesh has always been in and out of the side across the formats. Despite making a debut against in 2010, he has only played 75 ODIs until now and last featured in the home series against the Windies last year. He has scalped 106 wickets so far but an economy of 6.01 is on a higher side and more often than not is at the receiving end when it comes to bowling in the death overs.
Umesh’s tweet
However, after getting picked in the T20Is, Umesh Yadav seems to be delighted and is keen on making the opportunity. He came up an inspirational tweet which read, “I’m going to always rise above the doubt that may exist about me.” It remains to be seen if he is given an opportunity in the playing XI for the series which commences on February 24.
Here’s his tweet:
I'm going to always rise above the doubt that may exist about me.😁💪

As far as the T20I squad is concerned, apart from Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Siddarth Kaul are the other pacers. Mayank Markande has earned his maiden call-up to the national side with the chief selector MSK Prasad clarifying that the leggie is a backup spinner. Kuldeep Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have been rested for this series which seems that Mayank will make his international debut against Australia.
The skipper Virat Kohli makes a comeback after a sufficient rest during the New Zealand tour. While there were reports of Rohit Sharma getting a rest, the selectors have named him in both the squads.
