In an all-important match, Umesh Yadav came to the fore for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He has done that for the side in this season’s tournament. The Indian selectors rewarded the 30-year old pacer when they named the national side for the upcoming tour of England where the side plays 3 ODIs.
RCB’s wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel who along with skipper made sure the side did not lose any wicket during the run chase feels that the selectors did a great job in selecting Yadav in the side. Patel was speaking after their massive 10-wicket win over Ravichandran Ashwin-led Kings XI Punjab. Patel was of the thought that Yadav was India’s best bowler in the last home season and deserved a spot in the national side.
Yadav executing his plans perfectly: Patel
“He (Umesh) is bowling brilliantly. He was India’s best bowler in their last home season. And this IPL, he has been magnificent and has been rewarded with a place in the ODI and T20I squads for England tour. It’s a well-deserved selection. He is thinking right and is executing his plans to perfection,” said the left-handed batsman.
After winning the toss when Kohli invited Kings XI Punjab to bat first, even he wouldn’t have thought that they will be chasing only 89 runs. It was Umesh Yadav who removed in-form KL Rahul and bounced out the big West Indian Chris Gayle to put his side over the top. With wickets tumbling, Punjab never looked in the game. Yadav returned and removed Tye to have a remarkable figure of 23 for 3 in 4 overs.
In the tournament, in 12 matches, Yadav has 20 wickets to his name at an impressive average of 21.29. Punjab’s Andrew Tye holds the purple cap with 20 wickets in 20 games while Pandya is following him with same wickets as Yadav but he has played 11 matches.
As Yadav helped the side win the game with a massive margin against the Kings XI Punjab, Kohli and company would hope for him to continue his glorious form in the ongoing tournament while the Indian selectors would hoping to see Yadav in the same form when the team travels to the UK for their long tour.
