6 – Jim Lakers’ 19 wickets in a match
If a bowler manages to break this record, it should be a medical miracle. Taking 19 wickets in a Test out of the 20 possible wickets is more than an outstanding achievement and England spinner Jim Lakers managed to do so against Australia in 1956. Lakers became the first bowler to take 10 wickets in an innings when he took 10-53 in the second innings of the match. In the first innings, he managed to take 9-37 which totals to 19-90 in the match.
