The South African pacer Chris Morris has been ruled out for the Australia series due to a knee injury. Uncapped player Dwaine Pretorius has been included in the squad as his replacement.

Morris will also miss out on the ODI match against Ireland ahead of the Australia series. South Africa will take on Ireland on September 25 at the Willowmoore Park, Benoni.

The 27-year old uncapped player Dwaine Pretorius, who has an impressive List A career has been named as his replacement. Pretorius had played 39 List A matches, where he bagged 48 wickets and also claimed 107 wickets from 33 first-class matches. He is quite handy with the bat as he has 4 centuries and 9 half-centuries against his name in First class cricket.

The South African skipper AB de Villiers has already been ruled out of the match against Ireland as he has been given additional time to recover from an elbow injury sustained in August. His availability for the series against Australia is also under threat as he will have to pass the fitness test.

If he fails to pass the test, a date for surgery will be set which will see him being rested for six to eight weeks, which means he will miss out the Australian series. Faf du Plessis will lead the squad in his absence and the left-hand batsman Rilee Rossouw, has been added as cover for de Villiers.

South Africa will take on Australia in the first of the 5-match ODI series at SuperSport Park, Centurion on September 30.
