The inaugural ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup (2023) is all set to commence on January 14 in South Africa. Interestingly, following the conclusion of the event the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023 will be played in the same country and will start from February 10 onwards.
As per the Women's U19 T20 World Cup schedule, the marquee event will feature a total of 41 matches and as many as 16 teams will take part in the event for the coveted title. The 16 teams will be divided in to four groups namely – A, B, C, D. Each group will have four teams. After the culmination of the initial group stage top-three teams from each group will advance to the Super Six round.
Teams will be then divided into two groups of six teams. Group 1 will have the top-three teams from Group A and D and Group 2 will have the same from Group B and C.
Team India is placed in Group D along with the likes of Scotland, South Africa, and the UAE. Prior to the main event, there will be 16 warm-up matches taking place between 9 and 11 January in the cities of Johannesburg and Tshwane.
In the main event, all matches will take place in Benoni and Potchefstroom across four venues. The top-two teams from the Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup Points Table will progress to the semi-finals. Following the two semi-final matches, the winning teams will cross swords for the prestigious title on 29 January.
