India middle-order batter Ajinkya Rahane is known to be calm and a level-headed person. Whenever the chips are down, trust the right-hand batter to make a comeback, and often he won’t disappoint you. Also, he is not known to show his emotions on-field, and that is why his new Instagram posts which went viral a few days ago has come as a surprise to many of his followers and fans.
Although the Indian bowlers hogged the limelight for their epic win at Lord’s Test match, Rahane waded a tricky middle period and formed a crucial 100-run stand with Cheteshwar Pujara to calm the nerves of the Indian dugout. The vice-captain scored 61 runs and answered his critics in style by letting his bat do the talking. The Indian team got a timely nine-day break between the second and the third Tests, which Rahane utilized by spending some quality time with his family.
Rahane likes to maintain a low profile on his social media as well and hence it came as a surprise when he uploaded a picture of himself with a dope jacket on. What caught the attention of the onlookers was the caption he used to describe the photo, which indirectly was directed towards his critics. “My reaction when the trolls get trolled.”
And now Rahane is again back, this time he has posted a short three-second video along with his family. In the post which was shared by the right-hand batter, the trio seem to be happy and were enjoying some sunshine. Fittingly, Rahane captioned the post: “Under the sun with my sunshines”.

Sunil Gavaskar heaps praise on Ajinkya Rahane for his performance on the second Test match
Former India opener Sunil Gavaskar was lavish in praise of Rahane and said he responded well to his critics by playing sensible innings. Apart from Rahane, Gavaskar also lauded Pujara, who scored a gritty 45 runs off 206 balls.
“They did (play a crucial role). Both of them are what you call low-profile players and not high-profile players. They don’t get the attention that some others do. It may be because of the style of play or whatever but, they are invaluable to the team and, they brought all their experience to play,” Gavaskar told Sony Sports after India outclassed England in the Lord’s Test on Monday.
