The International Cricket Council recently took some bold decisions on the associate nations and the affiliated nations. They have now discarded the affiliated nations as now all the nations will become associate nations. Moreover, they welcomed Afghanistan and Ireland as the full member of the ICC and will now be eligible to play Test cricket.

There were some bold decisions which were not so good for one of the nations. They have decided to discard the United States of America Cricket Association (USACA) from the associate nations. They have expelled them to be very precise. This is not good news for the fans in America as they will have to wait until a new association is formed.

The reason

The decision to expel USACA was taken after hearing the verdict of Dispute Resolution Committee last week. The main reason was that USACA was not cooperating with the ICC and this has urged them to take the hard decision. The USACA failed to gather the communities in the USA and this also played a part in their expulsion.

The organization was also suspended in 2015 for the same reason but they did not learn their lesson and now face an expulsion. The ICC had also set up a Sustainable Foundation Advisory Group (SFAG) to revive the USACA and they failed to cooperate with them as well. This is also one of the reasons.

ICC released a statement that said ICC will work on forming a new committee that will help unite the ‘fractured community’ in the states. The release read, “Further details will be issued in the coming days outlining the process which will now be followed to establish a new governing body for cricket in the USA that is capable of unifying the fractured cricket community in that part of the world.”

The decision was taken on 22nd June in the Full Member Council meeting.
