Things do not seem to be on a happy note for the Sri Lankan batsman Kusal Mendis. He has been struggling to make amends to his batting in the ongoing tour to South Africa. More misery has piled up upon him as his house was recently burgled in Sri Lanka. As per the reports in the Daily Mirror, the residence of Kusal Mendis at Aruna Mawatha, Gorakana in Panadura was a victim of theft recently.
The reports suggested that the house was burgled in the wee hours of Friday morning. Dinesh Deeptha Mendis, the house owner, was quick enough to lodge a complaint at the nearest police station soon after he realised there was a theft. Dinesh, the 44-year old man, moved to the Panadura North Police Station to report the incident and registered the FIR.
Valuables around 315,000 Rupees have been reported to have been stolen in the theft. Close to three bracelets, four rings, gold chain and 5000 rupees cash has been stolen from the wardrobe inside the living room of the residence in Panadura. The police have not made any arrest relating to the same as yet. Kusal Mendis, too, has not given any official remark about the theft and is yet to confirm the same.
Meanwhile, the batsman himself is in South Africa with the national side. The visitors have had a tough time on the tour. They were beaten 3-0 in the Test series. They came back good in the T20Is where they beat the new-look South African lineup. Just when things started to appear bright for the Lankans, misery struck them yet again in the ODI fixtures. In the 5 match ODI series, they are trailing 0-3 with 2 matches to play. On the personal front, Mendis is yet to make a mark in the series. A big score is due from his bat on the tour.
