Vanitha VR hails Suresh Raina for stupendous comeback
The southpaw will be itching to find a way back into the India squad.
Suresh Raina has had an impressive run of late, both in domestic and international cricket. The cricketer started the domestic season with some lackluster performances in the Ranji Trophy. However, he stormed back and smashed a century against Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Subsequently, he was rewarded with a berth in the India T20 squad for their three-match series against South Africa. He blazed away to a blistering start at Johannesburg, however, fell prey to Junior Dala. The left-hander looked threatened to take the game away from the Proteas in Centurion. Nevertheless, Andile Phehlukwayo nipped his wicket out and removed the big fish.
However, the Uttar Pradesh cricketer churned out a swashbuckling knock in the deciding game at the Newlands in Cape Town. He opened his account with a colossal hit into the stands and looked ominous for a substantial score. Nonetheless, he was dismissed by Tabraiz Shamsi on the brink of a half-century. Raina eventually managed to score 89 runs at an average of 29.67.
After his impressive performances, the southpaw was showered with praises from the cricketing fraternity. Most recently, Vellaswamy Vanitha, a cricketer of the Indian Women’s team, heaped praises on Suresh Raina. The player shared a delightful message on Twitter after the Indian batsman notched the Player of the Match award in the third T20I.
