Vanuatu T10 Super League 2020: Three teams to battle it out across 10 matches in the tournament
Apart from the opening day, all the matches will only be played on Saturday with the final scheduled on June 13.
Vanuatu has been one of the very few countries with zero Coronavirus cases so far and not surprisingly, cricket resumed in the country late last month. Women’s T20 Super League received great response overall and this has led to Vanuatu Cricket deciding to launch the Men’s T10 Super League, which is also named as BetBarter T10 League, starting from May 21. Their CEO Shane Deitz made the announcement recently on the Facebook page.
A total of three teams will fight it out for the ultimate glory in the tournament. MT Bulls, Ifira Sharks and Mighty Efate Panthers are the three sides who will take the field from May 21. 53 best players in the country have been divided into three teams with 17 of them each in MT Bulls and Ifira Sharks while the rest of the 19 cricketers have made it to the Panthers team.
Total of 10 matches will be played
Though the board has not announced the schedule of the Vanuatu Cricket Association presents BetBarter Vanuatu Blast T10 officially, they have released the format in which the teams will compete. A total of 10 matches will be played during the competition as each team will face other thrice in the league stage. The tentative schedule suggests that the first two matches will take place on May 21 (Thursday) after which the players will take the field only on Saturdays.
Every Saturday, two matches will be played as the top two teams will make it to the final scheduled to be played on June 13. All the matches will commence on 7 AM IST (12:30 PM local time) and 9 AM IST (2:30 PM local time). Vanuatu Cricket is expected to announce the proper schedule at the earliest as they are hoping a huge response worldwide for the tournament.
The board is also planning to live stream the matches world wide and the details of the same will also be given soon. Ahead of the Women’s T20 Super League final, an exhibition T10 game was organised which went down the wire. With Vanuatu national players also taking part in this Super League, most of the matches are expected to a treat to the fans once the tournament gets underway.
