India’s Women’s World Cup sensation Veda Krishnamurthy, in an interview, revealed that she is eagerly waiting for her stint with Hobart Hurricanes in the Women’s Big Bash League. Veda became only the third Indian to feature in the Australian based franchise league after opener Smriti Mandhana and Punjab powerhouse Harmanpreet Kaur.

The Bangalore player would be available for the 10 matches of Hobart Hurricanes before flying back to India in preparation for the South African tour. Krishnamurthy claimed that she is looking forward to playing outside her comfort zone and developing camaraderie in an unknown sphere Down Under.

“The BBL is all about playing out of my comfort zone, playing with players who do not know you, players with different skill sets etc. Creating a bond with them would be the challenging part and I am up for it. There is a cultural difference and if I can overcome the initial hiccups, I am sure I can excel in developing a camaraderie which would help me improve as a player in the long run,” commented Veda Krishnamurthy according to SportstarLive.

Krishnamurthy, who stole the limelight in the International stage with her quickfire innings of 70 off just 45 balls against the White Ferns, expressed that the role of the players cannot be fixed.

“The game is so fast that the concept of waiting and playing is eliminated. One must get on scoring right from ball one and with the aggressive player I am, it shouldn’t be a tough ask in adapting to the requirements of the team,” replied the batter when asked about her role as a finisher.

On Mithali Raj‘s support

“Mithali has been a great source of inspiration for me. We have spoken about these contracts in the past and when I got this, she immediately asked me to accept the offer. She feels that as a youngster, I need to get that experience of playing in different conditions that can help me become better at my game. Although the domestic season clashes with the BBL, she was instant in giving me a no objection certificate,” stated Veda when asked about the role her captain played when she landed a contract with Hobart Hurricanes.
