Indian Women’s cricketer Veda Krishnamurthy received a jolt on 24th April 2021 as her mother passed away after she was infected with the deadly Covid-19 disease. Veda confirmed the same with a message on Twitter.
The Indian Women’s cricketer stated that she has received so many messages regarding her mother’s loss, and she really appreciates all of them. She also tweeted that her family is lost without her beloved ‘Amma’.
Krishnamurthy went on to add that now the prayers of the family are now with her sister. The Indian Women’s cricketer confirmed that she has tested negative, and concluded her tweet by stating that her thoughts go out to other people who are going through the same situation.
“Appreciate all the messages I have received about the loss of my Amma. As you can imagine my family is lost without her. We now pray for my sister. I have tested negative & appreciate if you can respect our privacy. My thoughts & prayers go out to those going through the same!!,” tweeted Veda Krishnamurthy.

Veda Krishnamurthy has been an integral part of the Indian Women’s cricket team for a decade. The right-handed batter has featured in 48 ODI matches for India and has scored 829 runs at an average of 25.90. She has also played 76 T20Is and has scored 875 runs at an average of 18.61.
Veda Krishnamurthy was last seen in action in an Indian jersey on 8th March 2020, during the final of the 2020 T20 Women’s World Cup. In the final, the Australian side, led by Meg Lanning thrashed the Indian side by a margin of 85 runs. After piling up a total of 184/4 on the board, the Australian bowlers made life miserable for the Indian batters, and the ‘Women in Blue’ were bowled out for a meagre total of 99.
Megan Schutt was the star performer for the Australian side with the ball. The right-arm pacer scalped 4 wickets in just 3.1 overs and gave away only 18 runs. Veda Krishnamurthy, on her part, scored 19 runs off 24 deliveries with the willow.
