Barely a few days after brushing shoulders over his friendship with Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli has found himself in yet another banter on Twitter. It is not a secret that the Pakistan Cricket Board is looking for a replacement for Waqar Younis. In what was meant to be a troll of sorts, Kambli replied to a Pakistani journalist stating that he would indeed be interested in the Pakistan coaching job.
What seemed to be a simple joke landed Vinod Kambli in a rather unfamiliar situation. A situation that he literally had to fight his way out of.
The PCB at the moment is going through a horrific phase. The axes have swayed, leaving coach Waqar Younis and skipper Shahid Afridi out in the cold. Although Sarfraz Ahmed has been named as the captaincy role, the coaching role is yet to be filled.
To make matters worse, the Pakistan cricket team was trolled rather heavily and needlessly when they put up a job description for the job of the head coach on Twitter.
Vinod Kambli, who seemingly fits into most of the requirements, tweeted back stating his desire to coach the Pakistan cricket team. Being extremely active on social media, this was Kambli’s window of opportunity.
Kambli tweeted to Asma Shiraz, a Pakistani journalist that he is ready to fill in Waqar’s boots. “@asmashirazi. SalamAlekhum Asma ji.I heard PCB is looking for a Head coach .I am ” Available”,” read his post on twitter.
A twitter user, however, decided to have a go at the southpaw. He tweeted: “@asmashirazi @vinodkambli349 For team doesn’t come to pay in Pakistan. How will you manage to come and live in a ‘dangerous’ country???”
Despite being shocked at the reply, Kambli replied: “Bhaijaan Salam. Mein berojghaar nahin hoon.Agar Wasim Akram IPL mein coach ban sakte hai toh mein Q nahin#PCB”.
