Vinod Kambli trolls Alastair Cook with his surname after the dismissal
Cook scored only 17 runs during his 55-ball stay.
The fourth Test between England and India is currently in progress in Southampton. Despite winning the toss, the hosts were left reeling at 86/6 at the one stage. The top-order was blown away by India’s new ball bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma bowling excellent lines. Alastair Cook looked good leaving the balls outside the off-stump but he threw away his wicket by playing at a wide delivery. However, Vinod Kambli soon trolled him for the dismissal and took a dig at his surname.
The likes of Keaton Jennings, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow got out very cheaply as they failed to handle some exceptional bowling up front. But the fans were having a deja vu as Cook was playing well much like he did in 2014 against the same opposition when he was going through a similar kind of form.
But this time, the Indian bowling had a lot of depth. Hardik Pandya was given the ball and he struck straightaway. The ball pitched and went away from the batsman but Cook, for some reason, decided late to play at it only to toe-end to the third slip where Virat Kohli was fielding. He didn’t commit any mistake and got low quickly to grab a stunning catch.
Kambli’s dig
The lunch was approaching and the shot from England’s veteran player left many perplexed. He had thrown away yet another start and was dismissed for 17 off 55 deliveries. Vinod Kambli, meanwhile, recalled an old Bollywood song with lyrics ‘Cook Cook’ and trolled him hilariously. He also went on to say that he might have wanted to Cook lunch for his team.
England are in a better position right now thanks to the partnership between Sam Curran and Moeen Ali. The latter was dismissed by Ravi Ashwin after the duo had added 81 runs for the seventh wicket. Curran is once again looking good for a big score and the visitors will have to dismiss him soon.
