Virat Kohli acknowledges the efforts of the India Under 19 team on the World Cup victory

The Indian skipper congratulated the colts following their impressive win over the Aussies in Tauranga.

India Under-19 team led by their captain Prithvi Shaw have clinched the trophy and are now the proud winners of the U19 World Cup, which was being held in New Zealand. India defeated the Australian team in the final match by a huge embracing margin of 8-wickets to claim the memorable victory. Left-hand opening batsman Manjot Kalra led the chase for his team with an absolutely dominating and stupendous century that eventually paved the way to seal the deal. The senior Indian team captain Virat Kohli who is currently leading his team in the one-day international series in South Africa congratulated the young Indian colts for a stunning victory.

In the final match against Australia, first, all the bowlers played a crucial hand to restrict the opposition to a decent total and maintain a good amount of command over the game in the first innings. Then the Indian opener laid a steady foundation at the top to guide their team forward. After Shaw’s dismissal, Kalra stood firm on one end and took his team towards the finishing line with scintillating unbeaten hundred. He was well supported by the rest of the top order batsmen in the victorious battle.

It is a great cherishing and delightful moment for all the boys who are part of this Under 19 Indian team and the support staff who played an important hand in the journey towards the title. This is also the fourth time, when an Indian team has won the Under 19 World Cup, as they won the title in 2000, 2008, 2012 and now in 2018.

Kohli was himself part and the leader of the winning team in 2008 and surely knows the importance of everything going around currently in the minds of the young guns of Indian cricket. He has been a part of this whole setup and everybody has witnessed his evolution and encrypting at par with some of the great legends of the game.

He congratulated the Under 19 team for the World Cup win and posted an inspiring message on his twitter handle. He wished the boys for their exciting and a quite important phase of their life which would be beginning after this tournament and also wants them to enjoy each and every moment of it.
