Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma save a kid’s life by raising funds for the world's most expensive drug

Many prominent personalities have come forward to help the Indian citizens amid the COVID-19 catastrophe in the country. While Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has been regularly providing necessities to needy people, Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has donated one crore to raise funds for oxygen concentrators. Indian captain Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma also stepped up in these times and helped several citizens by raising funds for COVID-19 relief.

The power couple initiated a fundraiser to help those affected by the devastating second wave of Covid-19. Many fans joined Virat and Anushka’s noble efforts and donated to the fundraiser. Subsequently, the duo rescued many needy people by providing them oxygen concentrators, hospital beds, and other supplies.

On Monday, the power couple saved the life of a little kid Ayaansh Gupta, who was suffering from spinal muscular atrophy, a rare genetic disorder. He needed the world’s most expensive medicine, Zolgensma costing INR 16 crore to overcome the disease. Aayansh’s parents had created a Twitter account named ‘AyaanshFightsSMA’ to raise money for their kid’s treatment. On Monday (May 23), the page informed that Ayaansh has got the required medical supply thanks to Kohli and Anushka.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is currently serving isolation with his Indian teammates in Mumbai. On June 2, the national team will fly to England for the ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand, which gets underway on June 18. Notably, India will further undergo a 14-day quarantine period upon their arrival in England. Hence, they won’t have much time to get in the groove.
