The Indian cricketers will travel in Business class from now on as the BCCI has approved their plea to upgrade their travel plans. Many of the cricketers including skipper Virat Kohli had earlier complained about getting mobbed and some of the tall cricketers reported complains of not getting enough leg space. Earlier, this privilege was only provided to the captain and the coach of the side.

Former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev had earlier said that the BCCI should have their own plane to save the time of the cricketers. He added that it makes life easier for the cricketers and they should have had this plan in place five years ago.

“The proposal has been approved in a recently-held meeting of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) in Delhi. The proposal approved in COA meeting regarding business class travel for all cricketers for their domestic flights on and off series:,” BCCI acting president CK Khanna told ANI.

Double standard divides sports personalities

Other Indian athletes were not too pleased with the double standard treatment served to them. They feel that every athlete represents India at the global event and therefore they should also get the facility and luxury. “This kind of difference should not be there at all. Even for us, we also need to travel in such a way so that we feel minimal tiredness at the end of the journey,” said Olympian Sakshi Malik.

We also like to travel in business class: Anju Bobby George

If our sports federation could afford it, we would also like to travel in business class. There is no difference between cricketers and olympians because both represent the country. There is rule that for all government events, we only go via economy class,” said long jumper Anju Bobby George exclusively to Republic TV’s Sumon Ray.
