Ahead of the five-match Test series the Indian team was playing a three-day practice game against Essex. The County Ground in Chelmsford hosted the two teams and when the Indian players walked out on the field for the last day’s play there was a special arrangement in place. There were drummers on both sides of the walk that leads out of the dressing room and the Indian players were welcomed with energetic beats.

Bhangra is the most popular dance form in Punjab and absolutely loved across India. It is especially hard for people from the northern part of the country to not dance at least a bit when bhangra music is played. The two hardcore Punjabis in the Indian team are captain Virat Kohli and opener Shikhar Dhawan.

The beats were playing loud and Kohli just took a second and performed a step to complement the musicians there who along with all the people in the crowd were extremely excited to watch the skipper dance. When Dhawan walked out he was jogging his way onto the field and in his jog performed a few steps with a Jatt look on his face enjoying every bit of it.

Here is the video of Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan dancing:

As far as the match is concerned the Indian team used this opportunity to make sure all the batsmen got game time. They batted all the guys who are in the squad – starting with Murali Vijay and Dhawan, Rishabh Pant who is a backup keeper walked out at No.11.

The guys who made the best impact with the bat were skipper Kohli and Dinesh Karthik who scored 68 and 82 respectively. DK was the highest run-getter while Vijay, KL Rahul, and Hardik Pandya also got half centuries but were dismissed in the 50s. Team India posted 395 runs on the board before being bowled out.

The Essex team was effective in its response and put up a total of 359/8 before deciding to declare the innings. Among the Indian bowlers, Umesh Yadav had a good time as he picked up 4, so did Ishan Sharma who bagged three. The Indians batted again and got to 89/2 before the game ended in a draw.
