There has been such a smooth transition of the Indian team after the legends retired and the credit goes to the two players hands down, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. While the former took over the batting responsibilities, the latter built a strong team which almost won the ICC World Cup in 2015. Kohli’s admiration towards Mahi is well-known and it was once again evident on the latter’s birthday on Saturday.
Both of them are currently in England involved in the ongoing three-match T20 International series which is locked at 1-1. Dhoni also played the 500th international game of his illustrious career only hours before he turned 37. Despite the fact that India lost the thrilling game in the last over, there were enthusiastic celebrations at the team hotel.
Celebrations at the team hotel
MS Dhoni had wife Sakshi Dhoni and daughter Ziva by his side when his birthday was celebrated by Team India. He is one of the most respected and loved cricketers in the team. Everyone including the skipper Virat Kohli is always in his awe for the amount of success he has earned in his career.
BCCI has also prepared a special video dedicated to the birthday boy in which all the players of the team have wished him but Kohli had some special words for the veteran. He acknowledged the way he’s been enjoying his game and termed him as the fittest player in the team.
“You at that age are as fit as ever and as fast as ever. It is great to see you happy, see you smiling and enjoying yourself. I wish you all the best, God bless you. It’s an honour for me to be playing with you still and to have started under you,” he said.
Kohli’s wish
Virat Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma recently reached the United Kingdom to meet her husband. She was also present for the celebrations as the duo clicked a selfie with the birthday boy whose face was smeared with the cake. Kohli also posted it on his official Twitter handle and wished his captain a very happy birthday.
