Virat Kohli as an example for youngsters: Gary Kirsten
Virat Kohli is currently captaining the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.
Virat Kohli has been deemed as head and shoulders above his counterparts and rightly so, bearing in mind the giant strides he has taken ever since he forayed into cricket. His aggressive approach blended with calmness has reaped benefits to a significant extent, both for Virat and whichever team he has represented thus far in the international and the domestic level.
The cricketer is currently representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is playing under the tutelage of Gary Kirsten, who is the batting mentor of the team. The former South African cricketer has been satisfied by Kohli’s progress and he exemplified the Indian cricketer for his maturity and his composure to deliver under pressure.
“Maturity in his game”- Kirsten on Virat Kohli
“He (Kohli) has worked out what he needs to do to create consistency in his game. He always had the strokeplay and the ability on the ball. I think he (Kohli) has developed his game to a level where he understands the pressure involved. It’s the maturity in his game which is a great learning for any youngster,” Kirsten was quoted as saying by Sportstar.
Both MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli has been stupendous for the teams they have captained over the years. In his chat, he highlighted the difference in the captaincy style of both the skippers. Meanwhile, he also praised them for leading the teams from the front time and time again through sterling performances.
“The difference (between Virat and Dhoni’s captaincy) is that Virat (Kohli) reflects a desire to lead for his team and wants to be the emotion around the team, whereas M.S. (Dhoni) is a lot calmer and took a cool captain approach to dealing with pressure situations. They’re both great leaders by example. They are prepared to go into a difficult situation and be the ones to make the performances,” he added.
