Virat Kohli asks the Indian team members to have fun in the IPL
The Indian team has wrapped up all international assignments and now will directly take field in the World Cup.
After the conclusion of the Australia ODI series, which Indian team lost 2-3, the team members are looking forward to participating in the Indian Premier League from March 23. Skipper Virat Kohli seemed happy with the outcome of the Indian team management’s experimentation in the series and is looking forward to the World Cup 2019.
Now Kohli wants to see his boys having fun in the IPL where they will split up and represent their respective franchises before the next national assignment in the form of the ICC mega event. He spoke to the team in the dressing room after the conclusion of the Australia series and told them that the next two months in the IPL they should go easy and enjoy the game.
“What we spoke in the dressing room was go and enjoy in the IPL these two months. Must enjoy ourselves and play because we enjoy the game,” Kohli said in the post-match press conference.
Enjoying oneself is necessary after a hectic season on the road
Virat also mentioned that every team member deserved to go into the T20 League and enjoy oneself before the World Cup tournament takes over everything.
The Indian captain also stated that the players have been asked to inform their respective franchises in order to manage their workloads and monitor things keeping national duties in mind. He also maintained that the team is committed to making the most of the World Cup as it comes every four years.
Balance to the team will return once Pandya comes back
“We have been playing good cricket and doesn’t feel like a loss. Nobody is panicking because we know the things, we were looking to do in the last three games. They just showed more composure in a pressure situation,” Virat said.
He expected every player travelling with the team to England to do well, and there are no excuses for their performances in the ODI series against Australia. Kohli also spoke about the balance of the team, which saw India play five bowlers in the final ODI.
He felt that once all-rounder Hardik Pandya comes back into the team, the balance of the team will be sorted out given Pandya’s hitting abilities down the order and that he delivers crucial overs in the middle of the innings.
“We have a balanced side as Hardik Pandya will return to the team. We know where we need to go as a team. Must take better decisions in tough conditions. I can’t comment on who will take pressure in the World Cup. We must wait until the side is announced. Cannot speak on the combinations. Whoever gets a chance to play must take responsibility and pressure,” the Indian skipper stated.
