The Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli is hailed as one of the most renowned and regarded cricketers of the modern era. Kohli’s popularity knows no bounds and once again it has been reaffirmed by his massive fan following on the social networking sites. Known for his aggression and passion towards the sport, the Delhi Stalwart added another feather to his illustrious cap as he breached the unthinkable 75.5 million mark on the photo-sharing app Instagram.
The cricketer also enjoys a mammoth following of about 36.9 million on Facebook while 37.3 Twitterati follow the Indian captain on Twitter. This means that Virat has an enormous following of nearly 150 million if all the three major social networking sites are taken into account.
With reaching the incredible mark of 75.5 million followers on Instagram, Virat also registered his name as the first Asian celebrity to have more than 75 million followers on the app. The swashbuckling batsman is the only celebrity from Asia to feature in the top 40 most-followed people on the site. He recently overtook famous musician Cardi B on the list, taking over the 29th spot.
Notably, the Indian captain is also the 4th most followed athlete in the world on Instagram. He is only behind Ronaldo, Messi, and Neymar Jr. The most followed celebrity on the photo-sharing site is Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo with 238 million followers. Musician and actress Ariana Grande is second with 199 million followers followed by Hollywood star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson with 194 million.
Virat Kohli to lead RCB in IPL 2020
The Delhi-born star will be seen in action after an unexpected long break of six months during the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League. The 2020 edition of IPL will kick-start from September 19 in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, with the final to take place on November 10. Kohli will be looking forward to taking his IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore towards its maiden victory in this season.
