Virat Kohli brightens up a fan’s Sunday in Melbourne
India won the third Test at the MCG by a mammoth 137 runs.
Virat Kohli, the all-format Indian captain, has often been deemed as a brash and outlandish personality. He is someone who generally prefers to put forth his views, oblivious of the opinions, surrounding him. His slapdash approach has earned him criticism. However, the 30-year-old Virat has often shown his humble and down-to-earth character for which people have appreciated him too.
During India’s tour of England, he went up to a supporter, who was eagerly waiting for an Indian cricketer to give an autograph, and obliged her request. India are currently in Australia for the four-match Test series and Virat has all the more reasons to cheer as his team has won the third encounter at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) to take an unassailable 2-1 lead in the series.
Virat shows his humble nature
Even in the ongoing tour, he has been spotted quite a few times with the supporters. Ahead of India’s warm-up match against Cricket Australia XI in Sydney, he signed an autograph to a fan, waiting outside the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Even before the first T20I at The Gabba in Brisbane, he was seen giving away autographs near the boundary as people also clicked some selfies with him.
After scoring 82 in the first innings at the MCG, he failed to open his account in the second instance, but would be satisfied for the reason that India won their 150th match and also retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with one match remaining at SCG, starting Thursday, January 3. Following India’s triumph at the iconic venue, Virat made a fan’s day with a heartfelt gesture.
Even as leaving the field, he decided to give away his pads to a child. Someone else also wanted the pads, but Virat completely denied him and only gave it to the youngster, and then walked off. India are in with a great chance of winning their maiden Test series on Australian soil and Virat wouldn’t want to allow the Aussies to get a foothold back into the high-profile series.
