Team India became the first team to clinch five Under-19 World Cup titles as they defeated England in the finals of the 2022 event. It was indeed a stellar show from the Boys in Blue as they didn’t suffer a single defeat in their campaign and won most of the games comprehensively. The team did well in all three departments and many of these prodigies are expected to shine at the international arena as well.

Meanwhile, left-arm pacer Ravi Kumar is among many Indian players who proved their mettle at the gala event. The speedster scalped 10 wickets in six games, including a match-winning four-wicket haul in the final. Ravi can bowl at a decent pace and his ability to swing the ball off the deck makes him an even greater asset. Hence, franchises are expected to go after him in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction as well.

Meanwhile, Ravi got engaged in fun banter with former Indian captain Virat Kohli. The 33-year-old addressed the Yash Dhull-led side ahead of the side’s final clash against England. During the course of the session, a curious Ravi asked Kohli about his weakness.

What followed was a quirky reply from Kohli. “I asked him what is his weakness. And he replied, ‘kyun abhi se out karne ki training kar raha hai kya (Why? Are you planning to get me out now only?)” said the former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain.

Meanwhile, Kumar, after India’s triumph in the competition, had said he always focuses on keeping his basics right. “Coaches kept telling me to do the basics and not worry about the results. The plan was to maintain tight line and length. The ball was sticking a bit and wanted to bowl full to get some movement,” said Kumar.

Meanwhile, NCA head VVS Laxman, who overlooked the team’s performance in the competition, lauded his boys for putting up such a stellar show despite less cricket in the last couple of years. “I think BCCI has to be complemented, the number of tournaments each age group players get to play, but unfortunately over the last two years because of Covid they didn’t play any tournament and that’s why this win is very special,” stated Laxman.
