India’s unbeaten streak of 19 games came to an end against the solid Aussies. They demolished the Indians and outclassed them in every department of the game. The Pune wicket seemed to favor the spinners and hence it was India’s game to win all the way but Australia had other ideas. The home team’s unbeaten run surely came to an end but there is another record that Virat Kohli can now never break.

The Indian skipper has reached places where no batsman has ever been. Since being the captain of the side Virat has upped his game to the next level and has flawlessly dealt with the opposition. As a captain, breaking Sunil Gavaskar’s long held record of 17 unbeaten games, Virat was on a roll. But MS Dhoni holds a record that cannot be broken now. Virat’s predecessor has an invincible record against the Australians in India. Dhoni has won 8 Test matches against the team from down under and has lost none at home.

He won 2 Test matches in 2008/09 series and repeated the same feat in 2010/11. The then Indian skipper went on to whitewash the Australians in 2012/13 Border-Gavaskar series. Taking his tally to eight wins with nothing on the anti-portfolio. Kohli had a chance to have a go at this record but lost his very first Test match against the Aussies in India.

India were beaten fair and square by 333 runs in Pune but that doesn’t take away the favorites tag. India still are favored to win the Border-Gavaskar trophy and will start their comeback at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. They will surely take it to the drawing board with vengeance and right the wrongs of the Pune Test.

They will also be ready for the surprise package of Steve O’Keefe who diminished India in the first Test. He picked up 12/70 which happen to be his career best.
