Despite the thumping loss at Rajkot in the second T20I between India and New Zealand, the mood within the Indian camp remained upbeat as the day of November 5, marks the birthday of the captain of the Indian team, Virat Kohli.
With the kind of records he already has currently in ODI cricket, it is difficult to imagine that VK has not even crossed the 30 mark in terms of age. Kohli has now turned 29 and has another year to stretch his credentials further.
In the recently undergone game against New Zealand as well, his hunger to score runs and take India home towards victory was there for one all to see. Kohli did not find support at the other end and was left with too much to do with an asking rate of 20 runs per over which was fueled by the peculiar innings from MS Dhoni where he found it difficult to even middle the ball and rotate the strike.
All in all, it was a forgetful day for Indian cricket as the bowlers were punished on a visible batting paradise. Munro and Guptill smashed the bowlers to all corners of the ground with the help of their blistering innings which set up the Kiwi victory.
However, while coming back from the stadium, the Indian cricketers forgot about their dismal day at the office and came together to celebrate Kohli’s birthday. This was also an opportunity for players to smear cake on their captain who is quite fond of doing the same to his boys in the team.
Virat Kohli himself took to Instagram to post about the late-night event. Players such as Hardik Pandya, Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Axar Patel, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal along with Head coach Ravi Shastri and support staff were seen celebrating the event.
