The chants of ‘E Sala Cup Namadhe’ have finally subsided. Well, at least for now. The Royal Challengers failed to qualify for the playoffs yet another time. The IPL trophy has been eluding RCB for a long time and the fans have to wait for another year to see if their team has it in them to lift the title. Prior to the start of the IPL, RCB definitely looked a well-balanced side and seemed to have finally solved their bowling issues. But they proved everyone wrong as familiar problems resurfaced again.
The Virat Kohli led franchise is always considered to be a two-man show. If Virat and de Villiers fail, the team seems to have no clue as to what’s happening and keep sinking further. If either of Virat or de Villiers contribute, RCB looks a different side. But players cannot be expected to deliver all the time and others need to step up to challenge the other franchises for the title. After RCB’s exit, Kohli has put up a video to thank the RCB fans for their support and promised to return stronger next time.
Yet another dismal run in the IPL
Kohli tweeted: “I really believe in the concept of, “you either win or you learn”. We fought hard and gave it our all but one thing is for sure, next season we definitely will bounce back stronger than ever with our learnings from this season. Take care. @RCBTweets #RCB #IPL2018.”

Kohli also apologized to the fans for RCB’s dismal performance and failing to live up to the expectations. He added that such things are part and parcel of the game and the team will bounce back stronger for the next season. The men in red have failed to win the title even once.
Cricket is a team sport and one or two players cannot take the team over the line consistently. More players need to step up and take off the pressure from individuals to ensure that the team does well on a consistent basis. RCB needs to learn this mantra and it is the way to move forward. It remains to be seen if the next season will be “the season” for RCB.
