Virat Kohli did not get permission from his mother, read a placard at the Gaddafi
The absence of the Indian players did not go down well with some Pakistani fans.
The ICC World XI tour of Pakistan passed with flying colors and it marked a historic moment in the country’s cricket history. It put an end to the 8-year international drought Pakistan has been going through since the horror surrounding the Sri Lankan team bus in 2009. The world XI side was led by South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis and the team consisted of several heavyweights from all over the globe.
The players who were a part of the visiting side were Faf du Plessis, Hashim Amla, David Miller, Imran Tahir, George Bailey, Tim Paine, Tamim Iqbal, Paul Collinwood, Thisara Pereira, Grant Elliott, Darren Sammy, Samuel Badree, Morne Morkel and Ben Cutting. However, India and Zimbabwe were the only two nations who kept themselves away from the Independence Cup.
The absence of the Indian players did not go down well with some Pakistani fans. While some came up with placards that the country would have loved to see the likes of Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli play at Lahore, the others decided to take a cheeky did at the Indian skipper. Out of the many placards that were waved by the fans, one particular placard managed o grab a number of eyeballs.
The placard took a humorous jibe at Virat Kohli stating that the batsman did not get permission from his mother to come and play in Pakistan. The line on the card went like “Virat Kohli ko ami se ijazat nai mili”.
Speaking about the action on the field, Pakistan managed to clinch the series 2 games to 1. All the three matches saw the Gaddafi Stadium jam-packed with the cricket thirsty Pakistani fans and the atmosphere was electric. It is believed that Sri Lanka and West Indies will also visit the country of Pakistan for brief tours following the World XI tour.
