Indian skipper Virat Kohli is very much following MS Dhoni’s footsteps. During the stoppage of play due to smog at the Feroz Shah Kotla, the Sri Lankan cricketers were having a chat with the two umpires while Kohli took a much-needed break from the action as he was seen doing some stretching after laying on the ground amidst all the happenings.

Earlier, during a limited overs game, MS Dhoni was seen taking a nap on the ground during a match recently. And the cricket fans were quick to connect the two. Due to the smog-break, play was halted for about 17 minutes, and during that phase, Sri Lanka’s team manager, Indian head coach and many other officials were seen at the ground having animated chat with the umpires.

Kohli makes 243, India declare on 536/7

Kohli soon got dismissed for 243 and India declared the innings on 536/7. The Sri Lankan captain Dinesh Chandimal and many of the players were not happy to continue due to the poor quality of air and they expressed their eagerness at taking a break. The visitors had a tough day in the field as Kohli brought up his second consecutive double hundred, making it his sixth double ton in less than 500 days.

Lankans look to avoid the follow-on

The Lankans ended the day on 131/3 at the close of play. They still trail by 405 runs with seven wickets in hand. Veteran all-rounder Angelo Mathews is unbeaten on 57 and skipper Chandimal remained not out on 25. They will look to come out tomorrow morning and avoid a follow-on. Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja have scalped a wicket each.

Kohli will take a break from cricket at the end of this series, and he will recharge his batteries for the upcoming tour of South Africa. India under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma will take the field against the Lankans in the ODI series.
