Indian cricket team’s captain Virat Kohli has expressed his fondness for Test cricket time and again and his comments have impressed a number of pundits from around the globe. His escalating numbers in the format over the years also manifest his desire to do well in the longest format. The 29-year-old is currently leading his team in the two-match Test series against Windies.
The home team won the first match in Rajkot by an innings and 272 runs, which also happens to the biggest (by an innings) in the history of their Test cricket. To add to their delight, Kohli’s men are on the brink of another thumping victory in the ongoing match in Hyderabad. It will also be their seventh straight Test series victory against the Caribbean team since 2002.
Kohli charges the crowd
In the meantime, despite India’s brilliant performance, the crowd present at the venue has remained subdued, which somewhat displays the diminishing interest of the people to watch the most traditional form of cricket. During the Windies second innings, the audience was quiet as the rampant hosts kept dismissing one batsman after the other in pretty quick succession.
Kohli noticed the silence and took it upon himself to cheer up the audience and energise them into supporting the home team. He started clapping and turned towards the throng, but didn’t get much of a response, which was disheartening to some extent. While a few of them waved their hands, most of them seemed disinterested by the Indian skipper’s gesture.
As far as the ongoing Test match is concerned, India took a lead of 56 runs after bowling their opponents out for 311 runs. The Indian bowlers picked up frequent wickets to take the sting out of the Windies batting in the second innings. Meanwhile, the crowd present at the venue needs to a little more vociferous in supporting the home team.
