Virat Kohli extends his good wishes to Shahid Afridi and his charitable trust

One of the greatest Pakistan cricketers of all time, Shahid Afridi was often rated as one of the best all-rounder from the country. Though he wasn’t the coolest cricketer on the field, he is an equally kind human being off the field and founded the Shahid Afridi Foundation in 2014, with a motive to provide healthcare, education and sports facilities in Pakistan and around the world.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli who has been an active philanthropist also made his contribution to the foundation recently. When Afridi quit International cricket earlier this year, Kohli & Co. sent him a jersey with signatures of all Indian cricketers. That momentous jersey was presented to him when both the sides collided in the Champions Trophy 2017. The jersey fetched Rs. 3 Lakh during an auction in Pakistan and the amount will be transferred to the all-rounder’s foundation.

“Thank you Virat for your kind gesture in support of SA Foundation. Friends & supporters like you ensure #HopeNotOut for everyone,” said Afridi on Twitter earlier this morning. This indeed is a great gesture from the Indian skipper and the former Pakistani cricketer’s elation is understandable.

“Wish you all the luck for the future”

Virat was quick to respond and congratulate the 37-year-old for his appreciable endeavours and sent his best wishes to his former counter part. “You’re most welcome Shahid Bhai.. Wishing you and the SA foundation all the luck for the upcoming events,” said Kohli on Twitter.

His fellow country mates also have been very supportive and quite a few of them have contributed financially to help the organisation. Pakistan’s pacer Mohammad Amir and all-rounder Imad Wasim also donated 10,000 euros each for the Shahid Afridi Foundation.

The foundation is currently raising funds to construct a hospital in Thar, Pakistan. Charity is not new to Shahid Afridi as in the past he has been supporting and endorsing many global charity organisations in the UK, USA, UAE and Pakistan.
