Team India skipper Virat Kohli is on a rampaging run in world cricket at the moment. Whatever he is touching, seems to be turning into gold. He had a herculean ride in 2016 where he was one of the top performers in all the three formats of the game. Come 2017, and the accolades do not cease to enter his shelf. In a recent tweet, the official Twitter handle of the Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack posted the cover for their 2017 edition which feature Virat Kohli. They revealed the cover of the 2017 edition which sees the Indian skipper playing a reverse sweep. It is indeed a great honor to feature on the cover page of one of the most illustrious sports journals.

The Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack is also known as the Bible of cricket. It is a reference book that is published annually in the United Kingdom. It is renowned as the world’s most prominent sports reference book. Wisden is a small-paged but a very thick book usually having over 1500 pages in modern editions with a distinctive bright yellow cover that it has carried since the 75th edition in 1938.

Prior to that, covers varied between yellow, buff and salmon pink. In a tweet, the Wisden Almanack posted the cover of the 2017 edition and wrote, “We are delighted to reveal the cover for 2017, featuring India’s star batsman @imVkohli playing a reverse sweep.”

Talking about Virat Kohli, he has arguably been the best batsman in the last 12 months. Hence, the accolade is only justified. He started the year of 2016 with a splendid show down under and then followed his good run in the ICC World T20. He then led his IPL team to the finals of the tournament and was the leading run scorer in the edition too, with 4 centuries to his name. He translated his good form from shorter format to the Tests. He notched up 3 double centuries in 2016 and the Indian team was unbeaten in Tests under his captaincy in the calendar year of 2016.
