Virat Kohli gets severely trolled after he visited Southampton Football Club
Southampton are currently playing in the English Premier League.
From the Indian team’s perspective, captain Virat Kohli hasn’t had the best of times on English soil as his team lost the five-match series against the Three Lions. The visiting team slumped by 60 runs at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton to concede the series 1-3. The fifth and final match of the series is scheduled to be played at Kennington Oval in London from September 7.
Virat is currently the leading run scorer of the series with 544 runs at an incredible average of 68. However, he hasn’t got appropriate support from his fellow batsmen, which is why India haven’t been able to maintain their dominance over Joe Root’s men. Kohli would now hope for his team to put up a decent show in London and end their English campaign on a positive note.
Twitterati ridicules the Indian captain
In the meantime, the Delhi-born cricketer took some out to visit the Southampton Football Club at their home ground in Saint Mary’s Stadium on Tuesday. The 29-year-old has often been seen vociferously cheering for other renowned European Football Clubs like Chelsea and Real Madrid. Southampton are currently playing in the English Premier League.
They are precariously placed in the 12th position of the points table with one victory from their four matches. Their next match is against Brighton on Tuesday, September 18. Recently, the club posted a photo where Virat and Danny Ings, one of their forwards, can be seen holding a Southampton jersey with Kohli along with number 18 written on the shirt’s back.
The club took to Twitter and wrote, “It was great to welcome @imVkohli and @BCCI to Southampton last week! #saintsfc.”
