Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has lauded Virat Kohli, who’s his captain both in the national team and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Chahal praised Virat for being “full of confidence” in his captaincy stint for RCB after the latter took over from New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori, who entered their coaching staff.
Prior to the ongoing edition, Chahal had 100 IPL wickets to his name and he hasn’t flattered to deceive thus far. Heaping praises on Virat, he said that the 31-year-old RCB captain allows bowlers to set their own field, giving them enough confidence.
Kohli gives you more confidence, says Yuzvendra Chahal
“It’s been like 6 years now. Virat bhaiya has always been full of confidence. He always says you’re the captain of your bowling whatever field you want, just go with that and if it’s not working then we will go for plan B.
“As a bowler or a youngster, he gives you more confidence,” the 30-year-old Chahal was quoted as saying in a press conference. “Whether it’s Indian team or RCB, everyone has the liberty to set their own field,” he added.
At the present point in time, Chahal is the leading wicket-taker for RCB in the tournament. In three games, he has five wickets to his name at an economy of 7.58 and a strike-rate of 14.4. In RCB’s opening match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, he became the Player of the Match after he picked up a three-wicket haul.
In that game, he got rid of Manish Pandey, Jonny Bairstow and Vijay Shankar to break the backbone of the Sunrisers’ batting unit. RCB won the match by 10 runs to open their account in IPL 2020. Dhanashree Verma, Chahal’s fiancée, was also overjoyed and she shared a video where presenter Pommie Mbangwa presented Chahal with the POTM award.
As far as Virat is concerned, he needs to pull his socks up from the personal viewpoint. In three games, the Delhi-born has 18 runs at an average of six and strike-rate of 62.06. The Challengers are next set to face the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Saturday, October 3 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
