Delhi Capitals’ loss was Royal Challengers Bangalore’s gain as Faf du Plessis’s men have dramatically secured a place in the IPL 2022 playoffs. It was indeed a stunning failure from the Capitals as they needed to defeat the last-placed Mumbai Indians in their last league-stage game. As their net run rate was way better than that of RCB, Rishabh Pant’s men would have qualified with a win from any margin.

However, they succumbed in the must-win game and suffered a five-wicket defeat, which officially brought an end to their campaign. Meanwhile, MI’s sensational triumph sent the RCB camp in jubilation as Virat Kohli, Du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell and others turned on party mode. The official Instagram page of the franchise shared some candid pictures where the players can be seen celebrating with ecstasy.

Virat Kohli thanked Mumbai Indians

In fact, minutes after the game ended, Kohli took to Twitter and thanked MI for pushing RCB in the final four. Maxwell also expressed his delight by tweeting: “Well isn’t that just terrific.” These posts went viral in no time as RCB’s massive fan base added the icing on the cake.

Meanwhile, the three-time finalists will now meet the high-flying Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator, which will take place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on May 25. While the winner will advance to the second Qualifier where the loser of Qualifier 1 awaits them, the losing team’s campaign would be over. Hence, the Bangalore-based side must buckle up to break the jinx and lift the much-awaited title this year.

As far as RCB’s performance is concerned, they have somewhat blown hot and cold this season. In fact, their NRR was way lower than that of DC as Faf du Plessis’ team suffered some massive defeats in the league stage. Needless to mention, the Royal Challengers need to rectify all these issues as the margin of error is very small from now on. Not to forget, KL Rahul’s LSG have been on a roll and are expected to put up a good show in the knock-out game.
