Virat Kohli has greatly benefited by advises from MS Dhoni: Nayan Mongia
Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter, Nayan Mongia, feels Virat Kohli is really lucky to be under the guidance of MS Dhoni as Kohli starts off with leading India.
Former Indian wicketkeeper Nayan Mongia revealed about the fact that India’s newly appointed all format skipper has benefitted immensely from his predecessor MS Dhoni during his short tenure as the captain. Kohli has found a perfect deputy in MSD to shepherd him during the grinds of captaincy.
The two giants of Indian Cricket have shared a great chemistry especially after MS Dhoni stepped down as the captain of the Indian side in the limited overs format.
In the ongoing series against Australia, Dhoni has taken the liberty of setting the field and guiding the bowlers with proper line and length while Virat Kohli offered his services by fielding in the all-important long on and deep positions during the death overs.
Also, Kohli has found an advisor in Dhoni who constantly provides his inputs during the pressure cooker moments of the match. The Kohli-Dhoni duo has accumulated a lot of praises lately especially from the Australians covering the tournament behind the mics, namely, Brad Hogg, Michael Clarke and Brett Lee.
Age is only a number in Dhoni’s case: Mongia
“Being the senior most and highly respected player, Dhoni continues to be a big influence on the team. Kohli has benefited immensely from Dhoni’s advice and tips from behind the stumps,” commented Nayanb Mongia during his interview with Rediff.com. When quizzed about MS Dhoni’s chances to feature in the World Cup of 2019, Mongia suggested that the old horse has still a long way to go in the limited-over format.

“Age is only a number in Dhoni’s case. He is still a great finisher, still a great match-winner. He knows how to take the situation in his hand in adversity, especially when there is a chase on. Besides his own fitness and form, Dhoni enjoys the backing of both Kohli and Ravi Shastri. There really is no reason why he shouldn’t feature in the Indian team for the 2019 World Cup,” concluded Mongia.
