Virat Kohli has got a lot of Australian spirit in him: Michael Clarke
Michael Clarke criticized the Australian media for showing Virat Kohli in bad light.
Former Australian skipper Michael Clarke rates Indian skipper Virat Kohli very highly. Even though the Australian fans and some of the cricketers might opt not to keep Kohli in their good books, but for Clarke, Kohli is a rare gem. He said that Kolhi often gets misunderstood because of his on-field actions and also added that he has got a fair number of fans too down-under.
Nice lad off the field
Clarke feels that Kohli has the Australian spirit and plays the game really tough. But he also added that off the field, the Indian captain is very nice and warm. He fired shots at the Australian media by saying that fans won’t get to see the positive news because the media is obsessed with negative press, and stressed on the fact that he has a good relation with Kohli.
He has the Australian spirit
“I disagree that Virat doesn’t have too many fans in Australia. I think Virat has a lot of Australian spirit in him,” said Clarke, who was in the city to promote Tourism Australia.
“To be honest, he plays the game really tough and is really competitive on the field, but he is a nice guy off the field. So when people get to know Virat, they realize that what they see on the field is just his competitive spirit. I can’t think of any Australian cricketer who wasn’t like that every time we walked out on the field. I certainly think there is respect for Virat in Australia.” Clarke said.
“You probably are not going to read the positive stuff (about Virat) in the Australian media though. They all want to write a negative story. But I have a great relation with him and I think he is respectful,” he added.
Australia will take on Bangladesh later this month and they will look to boost their Test ranking.
