Team India dominated the South African team in the first three ODIs. The Indian batsmen, particularly Virat Kohli did exceptionally well and the team is on the verge of winning the first ever ODI series in South Africa. The Proteas batsmen struggled against Indian wrist spin duo and are trying to find new ways to deal with them. They roped in five wrist spinners to bowl at the nets ahead of the third ODI but that didn’t prove to be of much help either.

Kohli is in sublime form and averages an unbelievable 318 in the series. He has scored two centuries in the three matches so far and was dismissed only once. He has been a beast in all three formats for over 24 months now and is piling up some huge number of runs. However, Indian legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar feels that Kohli should be wary of one bowler ahead of the fourth ODI.

South Africa will be eyeing yet another ‘Pink day’ win

Gavaskar, in his column for TOI, wrote about the special ‘Pink Day’ and why the BCCI should also look to have a similar programme. The original Little Master also highlighted the performances the Indian captain has put in the series so far while picking the one bowler he believes can trouble the steamroller, Kohli. Gavaskar also hailed opener Shikhar Dhawan for his terrific performances.

“South Africa is looking at history and hoping that the Pink day will continue to be a winning day for their team. They have as yet to lose a game played on Pink day where the team wears the pink uniform to try spread awareness about breast cancer,” he wrote.

Gavaskar also said that the BCCI should also devote a day for a special cause. “The BCCI that comes in for criticism for the amount of money it makes could do well to take a leaf out of the Australian and South African boards and every season designates a day for a cause and thereby create awareness about it. The kind of following the game has, the cause would benefit immensely from the awareness created by that ODI game,” he added.

He also analyzed the Proteas struggles against wrist-spin and added that Kohli should watch out for Rabada. “While the Proteas are naturally concerned at the inability of their batsmen to tackle the Indian spin duo, the other big worry for them is Virat Kohli. The Indian skipper is in sublime form and has shown he is way above other batsmen in the world. His battle with Kagiso Rabada is worth going miles to watch. Rabada is the only bowler who the Indian skipper has had to watch out for.” the legendary cricketer added.
