The discussion around Virat Kohli’s horrific run with the bat is not new in the cricketing world now and his struggle to get some runs is only getting intense day by day. Former cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra also opened up on Kohli’s recent form and referred to it as a nightmare that is folding in front of millions of people.
It is to be noted that Kohli, who is the highest run-getter in the history of IPL, is having his worst season with only 128 runs in nine matches so far. In fact, he bagged back-to-back golden ducks against SRH and LSG before being undone by Prasidh Krishna while opening the order for RCB against RR. In the same context, Chopra stated that it is extremely difficult being Kohli right now.
“Virat Kohli is living a nightmare, for some the nightmare gets over, the bad times get over. This nightmare is unfolding in front of millions of people. It is tough being Virat Kohli right now. It is tough being Virat Kohli. PERIOD. The kind of attention that he gets,” said Aakash Chopra as quoted by India today.
But it’s just not working out for Virat Kohli: Aakash Chopra
The 33-year-old has averaged a meager 16 in this season so far and his mode of dismissals also seems to be a concern for many. Chopra added that it looks like Kohli has been trying everything under his control but things are just not working right for the former skipper. Kohli, who got his last century in 2019 against Bangladesh, has been dismissed six times within 10 balls this IPL.
“Today, I felt that his bat was made of edges. There was no fiddle. He got a couple of boundaries. He is trying everything. He is going hard at the ball. He is taking his time. But it’s just not working out. Two first-ball ducks. He has been dismissed six times in the first 10 balls,” Chopra added.
