Virat Kohli, Ishant Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant included in Delhi Ranji Trophy's training camp probables

Even though the Indian International home Test season has come to an end, it is the end of four-day cricket in the country; in fact, it hasn’t even started! After the razmataz of Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament, it will be time for the leading domestic cricketers in this cricket-mad country to lock horns in the Ranji Trophy- India’s premier First-Class competition, come December 9th.

And, the teams have started to name their probables for the training camp ahead of the all-important season! Delhi have named their list of 30 shortlisted candidates for the training camp, starting on Tuesday. And, its a star-studded list thirty-member list that Delhi have released; one that includes the likes of Indian captain Virat Kohli, One-day and Twenty20 opener Shikhar Dhawan, discarded Test wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant and the ‘Player of the Match + Player of the series’ of the recently concluded Test series against Bangladesh, Ishant Sharma. The Indian pace spearhead became the first bowler from the country to notch up a five-wicket haul with the Pink Ball.

Delhi announces a star-studded training camp list

Speaking of the possibility of these players featuring for Delhi in the upcoming Ranji Trophy, it is highly unlikely that skipper Virat Kohli, who plays all the three formats for his country, would feature, but the upcoming season could be a great opportunity for the likes of Ishant Sharma, who plays only one format and especially the duo of Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant, to participate in the First-Class season and regain their form.

It has been a tough few months for both Dhawan and Pant. While Dhawan has been grappling with his form issues in T20 cricket, Pant has come under intense scrutiny for his performances- both with the bat and gloves- and his shot-selection in the past few months. And, after having lost his first-choice wicket-keeper’s position in the Test side, a good Ranji season could do a lot of good to his beleaguered confidence.

Meanwhile, Delhi will kickstart their Ranji Trophy 2019-20 season against Kerala.
