Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, has been pretty active even while staying indoors during the coronavirus pandemic. He has constantly been making people aware of the need to not go out and rather, follow the directives set out by the government. Back in March, the 31-year-old and his wife Anushka Sharma donated to the PM-Cares Fund for the ones affected in COVID-19.

In India, the coronavirus cases have gone above 42,500 with the ungodly virus accounting for the lives of over 1,370. The numbers are expected to go up even further in the next few weeks. Currently, the entire nation is under lockdown until May 17 that initially started from the last week of March. In his next step, Virat has become a part of another crucial initiative.

He along with Bollywood actors, Ayushmann Khurrana, Kriti Sanon and Sara Ali Khan, took part in the campaign ‘MatKarForward, initiated by Tik-Tok, the short video app. The infomercial tries to spread awareness about not paying heed to information, which can be untrue and ambiguous. The need for social media detoxing has also been iterated plenty of times.

#MatKarForward is to raise awareness

In the video, directed by Anurag Basu, Kohli, Ayushmann, Kriti and Sara can be seen, talking about how such mis-information can impact people’s lives in a negative way. Nikhil Gandhi, the head of Tik-Tok India, threw more light on the campaign, and said how it can help people become more aware about their surroundings in the grave global situation.

“Spread of misinformation is an industry-wide concern and a shared responsibility…we continue to take proactive steps to prioritize the safety and well-being of our communities. #MatKarForward is part of our ongoing initiatives to raise awareness around the spread of misinformation and to maintain a safe and positive environment for our users,” Gandhi stated.

Posting the video on his Instagram handle, Virat Kohli captioned it and wrote, ”Fight the virus with me | #MatKarForward All of you support us with such fervour when we play for the nation. But now the nation needs you, me, all of us to play for it. Will you do your bit? #MatKarForward Link in Bio. @indiatiktok”.
