India have had a wonderful time off late in international cricket. At first, the Men in Blue drew the T20I series against Australia and then went on to win their maiden Test series’ on Australian soil. Thereafter, they also emerged victorious in their first bilateral series, winning the ODI series 2-1. Thereafter, India headed to New Zealand for the five-match ODI and then the T20I series.

Even as the 20-overs fixtures are yet to be played, the visitors won the ODI series 4-1. They took an unassailable lead of 3-0 in the series with victories in Napier and Mount Maunganui respectively. Virat Kohli, who led the team to glory, was rested for the final two ODIs in Hamilton and Wellington respectively. Rohit Sharma captained the national team in his absence.

India dominate New Zealand

In the third encounter at the Seddon Park in Hamilton, the visitors were bowled out for a paltry 92 and the Kiwis didn’t have much trouble in chasing it down. Nevertheless, Rohit’s men made a rather resolute comeback with a 35-run triumph at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington. India won the toss and elected to bat, but early wickets pushed them back and were reduced to 18 for four.

However, Ambati Rayudu and Vijay Shankar helped the visiting team make a strong comeback. During the run-chase, a lot of the Kiwis’ batsmen tried their hearts out and even got starts. But none of them could go on and play a major knock. Subsequently, they fell well short. In the meantime, the 30-year-old was ecstatic after India’s thumping victory in the limited-overs series.

Moreover, the Delhi-born batsman hailed the team for coming back from a strong position. He took to Twitter and wrote, “Great come back from a tough situation early on to make it 4-1. Shows the character we have. Well done boys. Jai Hind,”
