India and New Zealand are currently involved in an ODI game at Eden Park in Auckland. It is a do or die game for Virat Kohli and Co. as they are currently lagging in the three-match series by 1-0. In a high voltage game, Virat Kohli lost his cool on the umpire during the game due to his one of the on-field decisions. Even the fans also criticised the match official for the same.
Earlier, Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to field. And, the bowlers to get early wickets, who were smacked for runs by the Kiwi openers. Martin Guptill (79) and Henry Nicholls (49) stitched an amazing partnership of 93 runs for the first wicket. Both the BlackCaps openers were playing at their helm best with no difficulty.
Virat Kohli argues with Bruce Oxenford
The Men in Blue desperately needed a wicket so Indian skipper Virat Kohli introduced Yuzvendra Chahal into the bowling attack. It didn’t take much time for the leg spinner to help his side in getting an important wicket. In the 17th over of the innings, the Indian spinner bowled a full-length delivery and Nicholls, the batsmen on the strike, attempted a sweep.
But, he failed to connect the ball with the bat and he was pinned in front of the stumps. The ball went past and that directly hit on his pads that gave a chance of an appeal to the Indian players.
Soon, the umpire raised his finger and adjudged Nicholls out. But, the drama was yet to be unfolded as Nicholls discussed it with his partner Guptill if he should go for a review or not. The discussion went long that crossed the time limit of 15 seconds under which batsmen or a bowler can take a review.
In the end, the Nicholls asked for the referral and umpire allowed him for the same. In the meantime, Virat Kohli looked quite impressed with the on-field umpire as he had taken a decision against the rules written. He directly went to the umpire and showed his disappointment. Later on, the third umpire also gave Nicholls out and that helped India in getting their first wicket for the match.
The fans stormed social media with their post bashing umpire, Bruce Oxenford, for his poor umpiring.
Here is how fans reacted:

After seeing umpire Bruce Oxenford allowing Henry Nicholls to take DRS even after the DRS timer has expired I really wonder what role does umpires have at international level.@msdhoni @YUVSTRONG12 @SirJadeja @SriniMaama16 @ABdeVilliers17 @ICC @imVkohli @sachin_rt @bhogleharsha
