Virat Kohli mourns the loss of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Ajit Wadekar
Both of them were talismanic personalities in their respective fields.
India has been jolted with a couple of massive blows in the last couple of days owing to the loss of two of the most enigmatic personalities in the country’s history- Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the former Honourable Prime Minister of India and Late Ajit Wadekar, a former Indian cricketer. While Vajpayee passed away yesterday, Wadekar breathed his last on 15th August, India’s Independence Day.
Both of them were talismanic personalities in their respective fields. Vajpayee served as the Prime Minister on two occasions, once from May 16 to 26, 1996 and then from May 19, 1998, to May 22, 2004, respectively. Wadekar represented India in 37 Tests and two ODIs from 1966 to 1974. Apart from being a stupendous middle-order batsman, he was also safe as houses as a fielder in the slip cordon.
Virat mourns the legends’ deaths
Following the demise of the luminary figures, the entire nation has poured in condolences on the dreary occasions. Many cricketers, both former and current, have also expressed their dejection. In the meantime, Virat Kohli, the Indian captain, who is currently in England for international assignments, dropped a message for Vajpayee and Wadekar.
He took to Twitter and wrote, “A sombre day for us as we mourn the loss of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji and Legendary Indian Captain Ajit Wadekar sir. May your souls rest in peace. India and its millions will always remember you fondly,”
Here is Virat’s post
Virat hasn’t had the best of times in India’s ongoing five-match Test series against England. His team is 0-2 down in the series and is staring down the barrel of another drubbing at Joe Root and Co’s hands. Moreover, he developed a back injury due to which he has become uncertain for the next Test at Trent Bridge, starting August 18. From the personal front, he has been impressive with 240 runs in four innings.
