Virat Kohli opens about what he learned about love and equality from Anushka Sharma
I have started to see myself as a feminist: Virat Kohli
The star couple Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma perhaps make up the best example of cricket and Bollywood joining hands in recent times. The story of these superstars in their own rights evolved from complete denial about any relationship to public acknowledgement of their love for each other.
There was a time when Anushka was trolled by the media for Virat ‘s poor form. However, despite reports of the two not having any sort of relationship, the Indian skipper came out in support of the actress and slammed the media for its ungracious remarks towards her. Things have changed since, as the couple is seen attending star-studded events, posing for photo ops, and dancing away at best friends’ weddings.
Today, Kohli is at the top of his game, and his constant hunger for runs speaks volumes about his potential. Moreover, he also has the biggest job in cricket, which is to captain the national team across formats. Likewise, Anushka is dominating the film industry, her recent success is in the form of ‘Sultan’ and ‘Phillauri’.
Two superstars in their rights
In some ways, this is a couple which complements itself perfectly. Both are highly successful in their careers. Moreover, while Virat is clearly a man driven by passion which understandably brings out aggression on the field, Anushka is someone who has the ability to calm his nerves. She exudes a sense of elegance and tranquillity, which has certainly helped Kohli tackle his aggression.
While everyone expects the two to get engaged soon, Virat took the liberty to talk about his lady love, and also share what she taught him about love and equality.
“People are very chauvinistic in this country. I certainly wasn’t aware of that growing up, to be honest. But I have started to see myself as a feminist… The intolerance I see…many people don’t even know that they are intolerant, and many of them don’t want to change. At some point it becomes a personal choice, and I would definitely want to think about life from the side of the woman. Everyone should be a feminist,” he said.
Virat Kohli and his weakness for dogs
Virat further went on to share how Anushka has sparked his love towards animals lately. On several occasions, Virat Kohli has been pictured with dogs in stadiums. Moreover, he recently adopted a few abandoned dogs as a gesture towards animal welfare.
“I have always been fond of animals, but I never had the compassion and love that I feel now, and that’s mainly because of Anushka. She has changed the way I see these things, and the way I think about animals; now I’ve genuinely started feeling this deep love for them,” Virat quipped.
There seems to have developed a clear understanding of relationship goals between Virat and Anushka, and their rapport doesn’t simply restrict itself to holding hands or attending galas. There’s a lot more to Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma than we probably think.
