Indian skipper Virat Kohli has ticked all the boxes during the tour to Sri Lanka. Under his captaincy, India handed a whitewash to the Lankans in the Test series and repeated the same feat in the ODI competition, by clinching a 5-0 victory over the hosts. Kohli scored hundreds in two successive encounters, and also ended up scoring the winning runs for the team in the final game.
Kohli posted a video on Instagram, where he can be seen batting left-handed. He whacked a delivery in an unusual fashion and was seen enjoying himself. The one-off T20I game is just a couple of days away and we might see a new avatar of the modern great. One thing is for sure, Kohli is as good as with the tennis ball, as he is with the leather ball. Kohli equaled legendary Australian Ricky Ponting’s 30th ODI ton in the 5th ODI against Sri Lanka. He is currently at the top of the ICC ODI rankings and it will some work to uncrown him from the top spot.
2019 World Cup in mind
The Indian team has started their preparation for the 2019 World Cup and the skipper has stressed on the unpredictability factor. Kohli said that the line up has to be flexible with different challenges, keeping in mind the challenges during the ICC event.
“We need to find an XI that is flexible enough to try different batsmen at different positions or play bowlers who can bat a bit, along with having the best fielding side on the park. We don’t want to be predictable till the lead up to the World Cup and in the World Cup.” “We want eleven guys who can bat at any stage, and chip in with overs at any stage. We want to remain unpredictable so there is no pattern to anything,” Kohli said after winning the series against Sri Lanka.
