A lot of eyes and expectations are on Virat Kohli as Team India gear up for the Asia Cup. The 33-year-old, who has been short of runs lately, was spotted playing some swashbuckling shots during India’s practice in Dubai. The BCCI previously released a video of him hitting a massive six and now there’s a new video of him doing the rounds on social media which in fact is a unique one.

Kohli is known for his orthodox shots like cover drives and straight drives. Thus, the internet went berserk when Kohli was seen hitting a Glenn Maxwell-like reverse sweep in the nets. The former Indian skipper isn’t often seen playing such shots. Following that, he shared a fist pump with leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who was bowling at that time. Ravindra Jadeja was also spotted smiling after the shot.

It is assumed that the ‘King’ of Indian cricket picked up the shot during his time with Glenn Maxwell in the Indian Premier League. Now the fans are once again divided as a certain section wants Kohli to be this aggressive against Pakistan in India’s opening fixture of the Asia Cup while some others want him to play safe and play his natural shots to get the job done.

For the first time in 10 years, I didn’t touch my bat for a month: Virat Kohli

It’s no more a secret that Virat Kohli was mentally down for some time and thus took some time off after the England series. He was questioned regarding that as well but the former captain believes that it was very important for him to take some time off the game and focus on his mental health. Kohli also revealed that it is for the first time in the last 10 years when he didn’t pick up a bat. He also spoke about the things that he did wrong and how his body asked him to stop.

“”For the first time in 10 years, I didn’t touch my bat for a month. I came to realisation that I was trying to fake my intensity a bit recently. I was convincing myself that no, you had the intensity. But your body was telling you to stop. The mind was telling me to take a break and step back. I’m looked at as a guy who is mentally very strong and I am. But everyone has a limit and you need to recognize that limit, otherwise things can get unhealthy for you. This period taught me a lot of things that I wasn’t allowing to come to surface. When they eventually came up, I embraced it”, said Kohli in a video released by Star Sports ahead of the Asia Cup.
