Both the sides enter the series on a high
The Indian side achieved unprecedented success in Australia. In a riveting Test series that will be etched in the minds of fans for posterity, the visitors stunned Australia in their own land, and won the series 2-1. On his part, Kohli scored 74 in the first innings of the Adelaide Test, before a run out brought about an unfortunate end to his knock.
Kohli then returned to India after the Adelaide Test, to be with his wife for the birth of his child, and welcomed his daughter on January 1th 2021. In the absence of Kohli, it was Ajinkya Rahane who stood up, and lead the side in admirable fashion. India fought hard, never gave up, and Australia finally ran out of answers.
As far as the England side is concerned, they warmed up for the Test series against India in stunning fashion, whitewashing Sri Lanka on Sri Lankan soil. Joe Root was the catalyst of the series triumph. The England skipper led from the front, scoring two centuries in the two Test matches, averaging 106.50 in the series, and also bagged the ‘Man of The Series’ award as well.
