Virat Kohli was spotted receiving wife Anushka Sharma at the Mumbai airport early Sunday morning. According to reports by India Today, Anushka returned to Mumbai after shooting for her film, Sui Dhaaga, in Bhopal. After a fairly successful Tour of South Africa, Kohli is back in India and taking a break. As a result, he will be resting during the Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka.
Currently, in Mumbai, where he has now shifted his base from Gurgaon, he will be satisfied after his previous assignment as a player and a captain. It was a record-breaking sojourn where he smashed 871 runs across the three formats. That is the most number of runs scored by an Indian captain on an away tour. He also led the side into a 5-1 series victory in the ODI series, followed by a 2-1 victory in the T20I series, all after staging a comeback in the Third Test at Wanderers. He was also the leading scorer in the three-Test series which India lost 1-2.
Kohli since coming back from South Africa
On Thursday, Kohli attended the special screening of Anushka Sharma-starrer thriller Pari with his wife’s family in Mumbai. Pari was released on March 2. The star couple tied the knot in Tuscany, Italy, in December in an intimate ceremony. After their wedding, the couple took off to Finland for their honeymoon where they spent their nights trying to watch the Northern Lights.
Kohli was also recently in Goa to cheer his team from the stands as his co-owned team FC Goa thrashed Atletico de Kolkata 5-1 in an Indian Super League encounter on earlier this week. FC Goa, which is co-owned by Kohli and the Goan Football Club Pvt Ltd, enhanced their chances of a playoffs berth by moving to the fourth position in the points table of the ISL thanks to their comfortable win.
